65years ago I made the best artistic decision I ever made, to go and have some art lessons.  I was getting nowhere trying to paint in oils so I signed up for lessons with Max Middleton, a legend of the Australian art scene.  With his passion for art, Max taught me drawing, design and composition which inspired to begin a great journey through the wonderful world of art.  For 40 years, Max, myself and other artists would go out and paint the Australian landscape.
I live in North Central Victoria and these days I mostly paint with watercolor and acrylic as that way I don’t drive my wife nuts with the not too pleasant smells emitting from my little studio.  I still get huge enjoyment every time I pick up a piece of charcoal and start drawing.  I begin each day keen to get into the studio and I can’t imagine my life without painting.
I also teach art at our local community house and I get immense pleasure watching the students improve.  I’m continually amazed at how six students painting the same subject can come up with six totally different paintings.
